Chapter 3

She looked at her husband and realized there was something wrong, judging from expression on his face. He was pale and his eyes were feverish, even though the temperature in room was nice and warm. She knew right away what was the cause of it but her sister in law was nowhere in sight. Why would he then be like...

She stopped to think as soon as her senses caught scent and the feeling that warmed her up to the tips of her fingers. It was claiming, but none that she heard of because there was never talk about releasing so much energy in the proces. And if her sister in law was the source of all that, hell will turn loose and she might be the first one to feel her husband's wrath.

It was too late when she noticed that insane desire of his towards his sister, and he would reasure her he was just protective of family members... But it was not so and she could not hide from it. Only thing that turned good was this child she was carrying and the fact that sister in law did not realize any of this.

But what will happen now?

She was shivering so much but she was not cold nor afraid... It was something else that she never experienced before. It was the feeling of safety and impression that this was right as it should be. He kissed her deeper, making her feel boneless and warm.

Deep in her bones, she knew that this man was meant to be something important in her life. Could he be...?

"Yes. My beloved." He sighed and nuzzled her cheek, inhaling her scent deeply. It was calming his urges to ravish her, because he did not want to claim her more intimatly in the middle of the Ball and among so many people that are attending. "You evaded me for decades, leaving traces of your scent that i would catch when it was almost faded...  But finally I found you."

"You were... looking for me?" She looked at his face closely, searching for truth in his expression. He did not lie. If anyithing she was capable of, knowing when someone was spewing lies in her face was that ability. "Will you accept me as I am? This pathetic and weakest in the coven, who was unable to awaken? No one will blame you if you severe the..."

"You are mine, beloved. I do not care that you are frail. Blessed be Godess for making my beloved the way she is. And who knows? Maybe the bond that we will make will bring out some hidden strenght you have." He smiled, caressing her cheek lovingly. "In any case, I am happy." She was smiling when she heard that but soon her smile rurned to expression of fear. He noticed that, along with the shift in the air.

"Please..." she whispered, trembling.

"Do you trust me? Do you permit me to do anything to make your fear go away?" He asked in serious tone.

"With my life." She answered. "If it is you, then with my life."

Ge bit his wrist, drawing mouthful of blood and kissed her again, making her drink. Taste of his blood was like lightning that zinged through her body, shocking every cell in her. Then he briefly looked at her in search of pritest, but there was none.

"Drink from me." She whispered and that was all he needed. He bit her lip, making a wound and drinking her blood that had same effect on him, as hus blood did to her.a

"No one can hurt you now. Not unless they have a deathwish." He gently kissed her once mire and drew her closer in his arms to keep her safe.

"Can I know the name of my beloved?" She whispered but he heard her anyways.

"Dante. My name is Dante." He said with smile. "And you are Violet. I would know the name of my beloved the moment we exchanged blood. You have not awakened yet, so it would be hard for you " it was best to give her explanation right away. "Do not worry about a thing. Now that we bonded I have the right and honor to protect you, so nothing will happen. You do not have to be afraid."

"Not good... My Queen, sems like trouble is brewing." King said with a hint of worry in his eyes.

"I noticed, my beloved... That gentle and nice feeling got snuffed out by other one that is rolling towards it." She was frowning but forced herself to be calm. "Ceine." She said.

"Yes, your majesty?" Their guard appeared right away.

"Seems like someone is nit hapoy that prince Dante found his beloved. Keep an eye on them in case something escalates. Dante can take care of himself but others might get caught off guard. Report is expected." King convied what Queen was thinking and it made her smile. They are really in tune with each other, that they acted more like one entitiy.

"As you command, your majesty." Ceine said and vanished to do their bidding.

"I am hoping that it will not be necessary." He said.

"You and me both. Makes me wonder who is his beloved to stirr in motion this reaction." She chuckled. "Seems like we are getting interesting daughter into our fold."

"That is for sure. She is beloved of our son afterall." He laughed a bit and made himself relax.

Chapter 2

She flinched from pain and bit her lip to stop herself from letting any sound escape her to reveal it. Father was dead and that was the cause of all her new troubles, because old ones are no ones fault in particular. Maybe the fault of those up high, who cursed her to be what she was. Father had left all to her brother and her, but brother wanted all for himself. Her brother was not happy.

Not happy at all.

Rage made her brother awaken, and unleash his wrath on her- who had been cursed by not to be able to reach awakening, when she could not defend herself. Jenna, wife of her bother Nedric, was not helping her also, out of fear that her husband's wrath would reach her instead, and she was with the child.

So there is nothing else she can do than to be quiet and not to draw her brother's wrath back on her, thus she stayed far away fom him in this ballroom, packed with invited guests of their esteemed rulers. But all she wanted was to escape, and leave no traces behind her as she made her way far fom Nedric and Jenna. Let them keep all, for all she cared. They should just leave her be.

That was all she could do... Wish that all of them would let her be and stay far away as if she is plague in person. But that was all it is, a wish that is unlikely to come true.

King was being a propper host, alongside his wife, and was chatting like he had no care on this world. Though the Queen knew better. One look at her husnand told her that he was looking for their children in the crowd. Daughter was with her husband on the dance floor among other spinning couples, her older son was surrounded by men and ladies alike, dscussing god knows what. But her other son she could not see in the crowd. He is somewhere hrere, she could sense it. But precise pinpoint of place eluded her.

King looked at her and she smiled in understanding, making them get away from guests for a minute.

"Did you catch him?" He asked in low voice.

" Not yet. He is being very elusive." She said. "It is almost like game of cat and mouse."

"I do not think he is mouse tonight. As a matter of fact, i think he is cat tonight."

"Are you sure? We are talkimg of our hermit son? Or did I have another one and I was unaware of it." She was suspicious.

"I think he just plays cat to evade all mothers that want to marry their daughters." King laughed.

"Well, that does sound like him." She agreed. "As soon as I see him, I will let you know, darling."

"Same here, my love." He said, kissing her hand and smiling at her fondly.

That scent was so darn elusive!

He found himself strangely iritated by that, but he still continued to look out after the source of that scent. He needed to know why it appealed to him so much, even though the scent was weak.

Something in the room shifted and he felt it a bit stronger, and with a growl of impatience he hurried where scent led him. He was not caring about what was going on arround him any more, for his only purpose was to discover the source of that scent. And when guests saw the determined expression on his face, they stayed away. It was not wise to stand in the way of King's son, especially when he looked like he would exterminate daring ones who would stand in his way. So much unlike his usual, calm nature.

And he found the source of his troubles now, as he entered the hidden hinge, where a mid height woman was surprised and looked at him worried.

"Who are...?" She frowned and tried to focus, but she was unable to do so. Her face twisted in pain and he felt his head fill with rage so suddenly it almost took his ability to think clearly. He knew of her, if he did not know her personally. But who would have thaught she was the owner of that scent that haunted him for more than 40 years.

"Who caused you pain?" He asked with cold tone, but filled with vengeful thoughts. She flinched from shock but it made her wince from pain once again. He came closer, gently taking her by the hands. "No one is ever going to hurt you again. And whoever did this..."

"Who are you? Why are you talking like that?" She stepped backward, shaking his hand off her and leaning on the wall, like she was afraid of him. He felt like someone poured cold water over him.

"You do not have to be afraid of me. You know that I would never hurt you." He observed her face while she did the same to him. She still was staying out of his reach, and he did not want to scare her away. But her expression softened and she looked surprised.

"It does seem strange, but you are right. I do know you would never hurt me." She blinked and wondered how did she know that to be truth. And it was the truth. There was no mistaking that, no matter how ridiculous it looked. Why would she believe stranger, and how could she know that it was true? "I know it is true. But I do not know you... Why would you even...?" He sensed her confusion and his instnct was making it harder to focus.

"My love..." King looked at his wife and she looked astonished as much as he was feeling that way. "Is that...?"

"Yes. He is claiming now, but..." Queen went silent, observing how all of the guests felt the change in the air.  It was like smelling the spring in the midday sun while surrounded by calm nature which was waking up and opening to the world. It tantalized the senses in most strange way. It was overwhelming, even her husband and she also had hard time not to bow in front of such delicate but strong power.

"What in the world is going on?" King whispered and looked at the crowd, trying to quickly find his son.

Chapter one

"Where is the child?!" Male voice was shouting, and face twisted with anger of a man who was looking at a couple, down on the floor. Man was wearing grim expression but woman was quiet. She was too pale and skin was glistening from prespiration, but not from exhaustion. It was due to giving birth not too long ago, maybe just a few hours before intruders barged in and started the invasion.

"Do you really think that I will tell you where my heir is?" Man answered with a question, spite flaming in his eyes. "Are you that much insane, to think I would just let you find my child so you can kill it? Child is safe, and no matter what you do, you can not get your hands on it." The look in his eyes earned him a hard hit in the face from the intruder.

"Have it your way then. Even without killing your child, all this is mine." Man said. "It is all mine, Andreas."

"Not for long, Sable. My heir will return someday, and you will have to return all you took by force. For the bloodline of child is maybe not purest, but it is stringer than others." Woman said in low tone, forcing her voice to speak, but she was in so much pain it was barely barable.

"You refused me, witch. I loved you, Thariel, but you chose him instead. Now I got my revenge." Man was now calm and confident, almost self satisfied with himself and what was going on.

"I curse you. You will never have peace while you live. All that you have done wrong will haunt you. All that you are, will turn rotten and putrid. And my child will be there somewhere, gnawing your corner of mind, reminding you over and over again what you did and what will wait on you at the end. My blood on your hands, but your life ended by my blood." She caughed blood and stilled unnaturaly.

"No, my love!" Andreas, who was beside her on the floor the whole time, realized she died.

" Time for you to die too." Sable said and used his wepon to end he life of his enemy like snuffed candle.

"Damned his personality that makes him so isolated even when he is surrounded by many. Just look at him, Dalara. Our son is just looking them with an perfect expression of joy, but behind that smile in his eyes I see that he is bored. And maybe despising all of them." He was upset and he showed it by walking dawn in same line for almost one hour now.

"You were not that different in your youth, husband." Dalara looked at him, partialy annoyed by the manner he was expressing his unrest. "And maybe it is our fault to begin with, for pressing him to choose. I personally would hate to feel pressured about something of this magnitude of importance. And so what if he wants it that way, maybe it was not meant to be." She said and then continued to read her book.

"He has to, even if he does not like it. Damn it, wife, even I do not like it, but there has been rumor that he is cursed not to find a mate." He sad, stopping his pace.

"WHAT?!" She raised her voice and stood up immediatly. "Who dared to say such rubbish?! My son is not cursed, and damn well he did, for not choosing mate foolishly, if they dared to say such travesty. I personally will not approve anyone who dared to think he is cursed." She was mad.

"Yes, my wife. Even though he is not our birthchild, he is our son, and I agree with you. But we have to do something. He, so far did not show interest in anyone, be it woman or a man, and our time though is long, it will pass." He sighed.

"So you do plan on retire from all and leave him to lead?" She asked concerned.

"I am too old to put up with new generations, and he could unite them together." He said and then thought of something. " Even those who are almost hated for being weak in our society, like those few children that live in his house."

"You mean of odd ones that Nathaniel kept and protected?" She was stunned. "Why do you mention that?"

"Even they pay respect to our son, though they are hated in the process."

"Well, true. I admit I am not fond of the treatment those children get. Casted out by parents who did not want the child with weak blood. But there was noting we could do. Nathaniel took them because he could not father a child." She was a bit sad, remembering Nathaniel.

"He told you why he did that?"

"We never talked about it." She admitted.

"Well, whatever made him to take them in, others still make them feel bad. I am not happy about it also. Nathaniel was my dear friend and I do not like feeling iI am getting when I do nothing for those he cared about."

"You do know it is not our fault. It is that damned tradition I want to break." She sighed again. "But we strayed from the topic. What do you think we shoud do?"

"For start, plead him to come on gathering. Even though he complied to it quite submisive last four times. You never know when he will change his fickle mind." He said and sighed.

"I wonder where he got it from?" She smiled to her husband.

"Yes... Well, invite Nathaniels kids also." He said leaving her surprised. They did attend the gathering when Nathaniel was alive, but since he was gone...

"Are you sure it is wise?" She was worried. "When he was alive his presence alone was enough to protect them, but it will be different this time. They will be exposed to the malice of other members of clan, and I do not want to see his children being embarassed by anyone."

"Am I the King or what?!" He sounded grouchy and she had to smile. He was serious about not letting anything to happen to children of Nathaniel.
